Aloha! I'm an (english) Canadian, who currently lives in Germany, and I'm quite excited about this game Smile

I'm interested in lots of games across multiple genre's, From my hundreds of hours of Farm sim or euro truck, to emergency management games, mine craft and now even astroneers. I've really enjoyed space engineers in the early days, and I think the planetary stuff is a lot of fun. However unfortunately I suffer from motion sickness from many video games. I can only play space engineers for an hour, and starmade was about 5 minutes before I could not continue. I love the idea of these types of games, but something about the 6dof and movement makes it unbearable. However seeing how movement and the camera functions in the Videos of Skywanderer seems to be much more like minecraft with flight turned on, which is normally fine for me!

That said, I'm super excited about the way this game interacts with itself, the programming and building system. The way it looks, and the direction it seems to be heading. I would love to test and support this game, and even offer input based on my motion sickness (hey if the game can be better for everyone and not just me that is the best!).

My most influencing games, my first game ever was Turn and Burn for the DOS CD-Rom, and some Wolfenstein 3d, when i was 8. Its hard to pin down which games have had the biggest influence on me, I love game design and the idea of figuring out how to make something interactive and fun, and to motivate the player to continue forward. The original half life was one of the few games i've played the entire campaign through more then once. Neverwinter nights 2 was special because i played with someone who DM'ed the games. Team Fortress Classic was my first semi-competitive game (hey even gave me a nickname Surprised ). At this point i'm just rambling so I shall stop Smile

Hello and welcome on board ! We will see what we can do for the motion sickness. Talking about motion sickness, Wolfenstein 3D Twisted Evil ? It was the pinnacle !
I had the same love story with Half-life, was also the only single player I did more that once for some time with Jedi Knight I think. All those scripted event, it was revolutionary back then. I also did a few Team Fortress Classic back in the day, but I was more into the early early days of Counterstrike hehe ! I also loved the simple half-life multi, sometime I play a bit on steam there is always a few people on crossfire, it is a lot of fun.
If you like game design this is great, I will share soon some ideas I had for the game, I would love to ear your feedback !

motion sickness did you have your frame rate low or limited the stutter that you cant perceive when your frame rates at around 120 fps can cause people severe headaches and cause motion sickness due to the brain having to rapidly respond to all the flashing that its registering although you wont be able to consciously see this it can cause severe headaches in the majority of the population try adjusting your frame rates and see if it helps hope you can play the game with us Razz

motion sickness has many causes, however what you are referring too are symptoms of epilepsy. Also the amount of people who have a monitor that goes over 60Hz is very small. It doesn't matter if you have 120 fps, 300fps, or 40000fps, your screen only refreshes at 60 or 59Hz. my motion sickness is caused by too much on screen movement, and affects me in games as mundane as World of Warcraft. In WoW i can not play a male pandaran, Tauren, or undead, all of these races have far too much movement on screen in their animations and it makes it impossible for me to play them.

That said I seem to be okay with Skywanderers so far!

huh if that's the issue why don't you get a recap program aka a program that slows down your monitors update rate so what happening ingame happens maybe half a second slower for you in some games that could help unless you play fps's its a bad idea to have a recap running whilst playing a fps

Yeah I can tell you that some gameplay sequence will give you motion sickness for sure as I had it a bit : for example when you activate gravity and your player axis realign, or if a friend is flying a ship and then you start to look outside and inside. That being said in these case I think you get also motion sickness if it were to happen in real life... You get sick in boat or car for example ?
The funny thing about this motion sickness I read somewhere is that this is a leftover of an old defense system of our evolution, as this feeling was coming only from some food poisoning (no car and boat back in the day lol), so your body is urging you to vomit to limit the poisoning effect. Lately they are doing a lot of research for video game on this because of VR... But I am not sure if this is the one you are having.

well it is under development so a lot of stuff are broken or not coded (warp, holomap ...) but you can join and build for now yes.
