Stars : Dev Progress
So currently this is the stars we have in Skywanderers:
Time is accelerated but I wanted to have an animated stars that feel alive for the player.
Each star have a specific radius and temperature.
The color is deduced from the temperature from Plank black body law :
Blue is hot
Red is cold
I will do another post on how stars are spawned inside the galaxy.
Next steps :
Dont hesitate to give idea on what you want with stars in particular !

- Optimize shader performance
- Warp protuberance
- Add huge protuberance
- Make flaring more random in time
- Add more random factors to bring more visual diversity
- Create binary / multiple stars system
- Better integration with light inside the scene
- Add more stars type : Cepheid, neutron stars, pulsars, white dwarfs, black hole and more
- Integration with gameplay : Deal heat/fire damage if ship gets too close, destroy ship inside protuberance.
Dont hesitate to give idea on what you want with stars in particular !

be nice if the stars could also go supernova if damaged or if a large enough entity collided with them evacuating an entire system because everything's going to blow up would be fun
