Brick building system.
One of the new feature on the building side is the brick system. Bricks are the small building elements by opposed to the 1m voxels. Some of them require studs to be build. I let you test all of that, but is definitely an area of the game where I need your feedback guy
Some background :
The problem I wanted to solve is how to get a building system that allows the creation of large structure and smaller details in the same engine.
I want to build large ship, but I would like to design cockpit the way I want, have nice interior, build small custom mecanism like turrets, weapon that you can equip, or even mecha, speeder bike, you name it.
I dont like having simply smaller voxels, they dont work for me, the building would become painfully slow. Minecraft 1m voxel are just perfect, and player are used to it. I dont like the way Space Engineer is solving this issue, having small build and big one feel arbitrary, and you cannot detail bigger ship.
There is one company in the world that is solving that exact problem since 50+ years with great success : the LEGO company.
They do not come simply with big bricks and smaller ones, but rather with a very wide fauna of shape and building logic.
The brick system in Skywanderers is really inspired by what Lego is doing. I will add a few pictures of custom creations to show the potential for Scifi build, as some lego builders out there are building amazing stuff. The technology used in the game is different than the voxel one, brick dont have to comply to a grid like voxel, so I can create various exotic shape. The stud system is there more to get a simplier building experience for the player, as positioning the brick could be too fiddly otherwise.

Now this is a really experimental side of the game, and this where I need some feedback and a lot of iterations to unlock the potential of the brick system. If some of you are interested by the challenge please tell me, it will involve trying out stuff, discussing about brick ideas, telling me "I want to create this how can we get there". It would help if you have a lego background actually !
So for example you can help me by working on mini turrets, personal weapons, cockpit, of starfighter detailing. Soon I will add more stuff to build with bricks, like mechas or exoskeleton, droids, drone or small vehicle.
In the coming weeks I will add more bricks, refine the building mechanic, fix bugs obviously, and maybe add a few experimental bricks.
